Calling All Tortured Poets: Where To Celebrate Taylor Swift's New Album In LA

“…but you can make me a drink”

Taylor Swift is ready to usher in a new era.

The superstar finally dropped  her 11th studio album The Tortured Poets Department at midnight on Friday, April 19, via Republic Records. Taylor originally announced the album at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards after winning Best Pop Vocal Album for  Midnights

With a concept fashioned after the five stages of grief, The Tortured Poets Department is Swift’s self-proclaimed “lifeline” album—a product of imperative songwriting. Written with producers Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner, TTPD originally consisted of sixteen songs, featuring collaborations with the American rapper Post Malone and the English indie rock band Florence and the Machine. At 2 a.m., Swift announced TTPD: The Anthology, revealing the project was in fact a surprise double album with 15 additional songs.

According to Taylor, creating the album proved to her the integral role of songwriting in her life.

“I have never had an album where I needed songwriting more than I needed it on Tortured Poets” she told fans earlier this year while performing on her The Eras Tours.

Leading up to the release of TTPD, Taylor teamed up with Spotify for a special pop-up “library installation” at The Grove in Los Angeles where fans got a close up look several album Easter eggs, including mysterious lyrics, 72 card catalog boxes, dried flowers and more.

And now that’s finally here, numerous listening are parties going down this weekend to celebrate the TTPD era. Check out some of the best Swiftie-themed events happening around LA below.
