Erykah Badu & Herbie Hancock Set To Headline LA3C Music & Food Festival

Get ready for a weekend of good music and good eats

Two of Los Angeles’s strengths are food and music, so why not combine them together into one festival?

Operating out of historic DTLA, that’s exactly what the LA3C Festival does, and its line up was just released! Festival goers will not only be treated to some of LA’s finest restaurants, but also the headliners of Erykah Badu and Herbie Hancock

Badu is a R&B and hip hop singer-rapper. Her first album Baduizm, released in 1997, was certified triple platinum, and her single “Love of My Life (An Ode to Hip-Hop)” from her third album reached top 10 in the Billboard Hot 100. Since coming on the scene in the 90s, she’s had multiple albums and mixtapes. The 52 year old artist through both her fashion and art represents the hip-hop community, and the different niches it has to offer.

Joining Badu is Hancock, a jazz singer and musician. Hancock has been in a variety of jazz bands and is known for experimenting with combining the styles of jazz, funk, and electro music. His most well known album is Head Hunters, but he is well decorated for music throughout his career. Hancock has not only won 14 Grammys, including the prestigious Album of the Year title for his River: The Joni Letters project, but also an Academy Award.

Both of these distinguished artists will be accompanied by a variety of performers in the  Ace Hotel, Los Angeles Theatre, Orpheum Theatre, and Palace Theatre, where the festival will be taking place. Guests can all look forward to sets by Flying Lotus, Questlove, Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington, Terrace Martin, as well as Marc Rebillet, Lonnie Holley, and Shabazz Palaces.

When it comes to the food, guests are also in for a treat for the 2nd annual festival. Confirmed restaurants include the Filipino restaurant Thunderbolt, pizza restaurant Speak Cheezy, Simon Seafood, Quarters Korean BBQ, Bee Taqueria and more.

In addition to the music, guests can also be entertained with live fire cooking through A’s BBQ and Campo é Carbon. The variety of food vendors is sure to keep every festival goer strategized.

Tickets for LA3C go on sale Friday, Sept. 22 and prices start at $75!
