Getting Festive: An Inside Look At The Holly Jolly Holiday Bar At E.P. & L.P.

Have a Holly Jolly night…

Nightlife is about to get a lot more festive, and we aren’t just referring to your grandfather’s hard eggnog. West Hollywood bar E.P. & L.P. has once again converted their second floor into a holiday fanatic’s dream with the Holly Jolly Holiday Bar.

Immediately upon entering, guests are faced with a gift wrap wall and then around the corner are greeted with hundreds of strands of light and holiday garland that wrap around the walls and hang from the ceiling. It’s easy to feel nostalgic with the Christmas trees twinkling in both traditional white and multi color lights, the life size Santa statue, light up candy canes, as well as gigantic paper snowflakes and peppermints that hang from the ceiling.

The bar that sits in the floor’s center is also filled decked out with ornaments, stockings, and garland as guests can watch bartenders prepare all their festive drinks from the special Holly Jolly menu. A TikTok phenomenon, here at Loop Magazine, we knew we had to pay the festive bar a visit ourselves and the decor and drinks did not disappoint.

Even though it’s the holiday season, L.A. nightlife still holds on to its year round tradition of being exclusive. To get into the Holly Jolly holiday bar, guests must make a reservation. Our first tip is to book as far in advance as possible because slots are already booking out, especially for popular days and in demand time frames later in the night.

Reservations are valid for 90 minute slots and cost about $23 dollars per person before tax. However, the reservation charge does include a free drink. For their free drink, guests can choose between the Milk and Cookies which includes Titos, Disaronno, Bailey’s, Vanilla Syrup and Oat Milk with a Sprinkled Sugar Rim. For a lighter option, there is the Drummer Boy with Stranahan’s Blue Pear Whiskey, Allspice Drum, Winter Demerara, Syrup, Bitters and Orange.

However, for us, the real show stopper was the spiked Hot Chocolate also known as the Feliz Navidad. It comes with 400 Conejos Mezcal, Oat Milk, Mexican Hot Chocolate, Whipped Cream and a Deconstructed S’more. The Mezcal definitely creates a strong flavor, so if you are sensitive to it, we definitely recommend asking for half the regular amount. Or our personal favorite is asking them to replace Mezcal with Bailey’s and it creates an even creamier drink!

The other extra holiday drinks include the Santa Baby made with gin and Jack Daniels, the Rockin’ Around made with Gran Coramino, and the Run Rudolph Rum made with Diplomatico Planas Rum.

There’s also a variety of foods to go along with drinks, including shareables such as Chips and Guac and Waffle Fries. There’s also a selection of entrees. We tried the Truffle Bison Burger and the Turkey Pot Pie. Both were delicious but other options include tacos, a fried chicken sandwich, a salad as well as desserts including Seasonal Cobbler and Cherry Cheesecake.

We had a great time getting into the spirit at E.P. & L.P., and it definitely was a great start for a Holly Jolly season, pun definitely intended.
