Love Me (Bar)Tender: Elvis Themed Pop-Up Bar Comes To LA

Welcome to the Jungle Room

Want to party like the King? After successful stints in New York, Boston and Chicago, Elvis Presley’s iconic Jungle Room is headed west to Los Angeles for a special two night event.

In a continuation of the first-of-its kind, experiential pop-up tour, “Love Me (Bar)Tender” will take over a LA hotspot with a replica of the most iconic room in the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s Memphis mansion, presented by Memphis Tourism and Elvis Presley’s Graceland.

The pop-up bar will have a limited two-night run from Thursday, April 4 to Friday, April 5 at Truly L.A., Truly Hard Seltzer’s home of innovation, in the DTLA Arts District. Imbibers can expect endless Instagrammable moments and drinks with friends inside the pop-up which features a replica of Elvis’ famed den–complete with recreations of the tiki bar, faux-fur furniture and wood paneling found in the original Jungle Room at Graceland–all nestled in Truly L.A.’s vibrant space.

“After seeing the love everyone showed the city of Memphis and the ‘Love Me (Bar)Tender’ pop-up last year, we are thrilled to bring this activation celebrating the Home of the Blues to the City of Angels,” said Regena Bearden, Chief Marketing Officer at Memphis Tourism. “The Jungle Room pop-up features something for everyone, whether you are a lover of Elvis, music or Instagrammable moments. We invite Angelenos to visit this pop-up, and then book a trip to Memphis to experience the real thing.”

The Jungle Room pop-up is a totally immersive experience with retro vibes, social media ready spaces and a themed food and Trulixir menu curated by Truly L.A. chefs and mixologists. To bring the activation to life, the pop-up bar will also feature music from Memphis artists.

Need a little Elvis history refresher? The Jungle Room first made its debut in 1965 at Graceland, serving as a reminder of Elvis’ time in Hawaii, although Elvis and the Presleys simply knew and utilized the room as a den. Design highlights of the Jungle Room includes an unforgettable green shag carpet covering the floor and ceiling, a rock waterfall, a lacquered tiki bar and matching furniture throughout the room.

The green shag carpet lent itself to the room’s excellent acoustics, allowing Elvis to record songs such as “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain” and “Moody Blue” at Graceland for what became known as The Jungle Room sessions.

Known as the home of blues, soul and rock ‘n’ roll, Elvis’ hometown of Memphis is a mecca for music lovers. Music is Memphis’ primary travel motivator, bringing in visitors from all over the world. While Elvis called the bustling Tennessee town his home, he also had many ties to the Los Angeles area, including owning several residences, filming TV specials and movies on the studio lots, and recording some of his biggest hits at Radio Recorders in West Hollywood.

Thousands first visited the “Love Me (Bar)Tender” pop-up in October 2023. The experience kicked off in New York City followed by stops in Boston and Chicago. Beyond the pop-up, the city of Memphis regularly welcomes Elvis fans and music-loving travelers alike. Several airlines offer nonstop flights from Los Angeles to Memphis for an easy getaway and today, Graceland remains one of the most famous homes in the U.S., averaging around a half-million visitors annually.

“We are thankful for the opportunities to collaborate with our partners at Memphis Tourism to attract new travelers to our destination,” said Jen Swearingen, Senior Director of Marketing for Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. and Graceland. “The Jungle Room activation is just one way for us to give visitors a taste of one of the most iconic attractions in Memphis and to drive visitation to Graceland.”
