Future Drops Surprise Project Beastmode 2

Since announcing the NICKIHNDRXX Tour with Nicki Minaj last month, it was only a matter of time until Future finally dropped some new heat. Sure enough, Future surprised his fans on Friday (July 6) with Beast Mode 2, the long-awaited follow up to 2015’s Beast Mode mixtape. The new project consists of 9 tracks produced by Zaytoven and the late Seth Perkins and includes one feature from Atlanta rapper Young Scooter (“DOH DOH”). In an interview with Fader, Zaytoven revealed that Beast Mode 2 has been in the works since 2015.

“When people would ask me what’s up with the project, I was always letting ‘em know that the music was done, we had more than enough music for it, it was just about when was the right time to drop it.”

With all the new music being released as of late, we’d say Zaytoven and Future were right on time! The NICKIHNDRXX Tour kicks off on September 21 in Baltimore and is scheduled for 28 cities across North America. Beast Mode 2 is currently available on all major streaming platforms.

Meek Mill Drops Surprise EP Legends of the Summer

We’re only in the first week of July and the new music keeps coming! Legends of the Summer is Meek Mill’s first project since being released from prison in April. Released on July 5, the four-song EP features Jeremih, Swizz Beatz, PnB Rock and Miguel. Meek Mill’s Miguel-assisted single “Stay Woke” is also part of the project.

While Legends of the Summer is short, it has all the bases covered: the ratchetry, the radio-friendly, and the conscious lyrical content. It’s a breezy lead up to Meek’s next full-length album which release date is yet to be determined. Legends of the Summer is available on all major streaming platforms.

XXXTentacion Signed $10 Million Deal Weeks Before His Death

The New York Times has reported that XXXTentacion allegedly signed a $10 million contract with independent music company, Empire, just weeks before he was shot and killed last month. The latest deal was in part of his third official album release with the label. According to Empire’s founder, Ghazi Shami, X had finished a “significant amount of material” for the new project but there are no firm plans for its release. However, due to a clause in X’s previous contract with Universal Music Group, the record may be released by October.
