A.O.C. Debuts New Seasonal Cocktails At 3rd St. & Brentwood Locations

Summer-approved sips in LA…….

A.O.C. may be known for being one the best wine spots in Los Angles, but this summer, the stylish eatery is mixing things up. The beloved eatery—with locations in West Hollywood and Brentwood —debuts a new cocktail menu crafted by Ignacio Murillo to welcome the changing seasonal produce and warmer temperatures.

In addition to the full bar of premium and classic cocktails, the specialty drinks at both locations include Basil Smash with gin, lemon, kiwi & basil; Gaviota with tequila, strawberry, lime & catalina apéro; Hummingbird  with mezcal, pisco, pineapple, coconut, cardamom & lemon grass; and Bardstown Fizz with bourbon, meyer lemon shrub & soda.

Continuing are A.O.C. signatures Suntory Barrel-Aged Manhattan with toki whisky, house vermouth & chocolate bitters; and Marzapán Espresso Martini with aged rum, house amaretto, almond & espresso.

In addition, A.O.C.’s signature Green Goddess with green tea-infused vodka, cucumber, arugula, jalapeño & absinthe rinse is ideal for the warmer weather and all purchases of this cocktail will contribute $1 to the Kids Campaign for L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade 2024.

From his early days as a busser at the OG A.O.C. at 3rd & Crescent Heights, Murillo always went the extra mile and immersed himself in the A.O.C. ways. He came to every wine and cheese tasting, dedicated to being the best he could be, and made himself a key member of the A.O.C. family.

Eventually, he moved to the bartender position, where he honed his cocktail-making skills, developing an incredible palate and a magical talent for layering flavors and textures. Murillo is now taking center stage, running A.O.C.’s bar program featuring seasonally motivated cocktails created to pair with Chef Suzanne Goin’s market menu offerings.

Cocktails are priced at $18-22 and are available now and continue through the warmer season. Check out each one below.

Green Goddess $19

green tea-infused vodka, cucumber, arugula, jalapeño & absinthe rinse

The Green Goddess is the cocktail version of the green juices that Angelenos love and has become a signature at A.O.C. The vodka is infused with green tea, and the jalapeno gives it just the right amount of heat. The Green Goddess is also offered as a Mocktail. $1 of the sale of this cocktail goes directly to the Kid’s Campaign for L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade 2024 to find a cure for childhood cancer.

Basil Smash $18

gin, lemon, kiwi & basil

Dating back to the nineteenth century, the idea of a smash is as simple as it is perfect – a mixture of spirit, sugar and citrus. That fresh simplicity sounded just right for the season. Here they’re using the great, green vegetal flavor and the tinge of anise in basil to balance the sweet and subtle tartness of the kiwifruit.

Gaviota $19

tequila, strawberry, lime & catalina apéro

The Gaviota strawberry stands out as a highly sought-after variety at the California farmers market. Our captivation of its juicy and delicious flavor profile led us to crafting a drink featuring tequila and these luscious strawberries. This cocktail strikes a balance between the fruit’s sweetness and the bitterness of locally made Catalina Apero, resulting in a harmonious blend of flavors.

Hummingbird $22

mezcal, pisco, pineapple, coconut, cardamom & lemon grass

Inspired by the unexpectedly delicious pairing of mezcal and pisco, we set to work on a perfect spring to summer refresher. Drawing on the flavors of Tom Kha and Thai curries, we use coconut milk as an ideal medium for infusing the aromatic spices and herbs to compliment the pisco. Mezcal adds a subtle smokey undertone, while the pineapple brightens all the flavors.

Bardstown Fizz $18

bourbon, meyer lemon shrub & soda

While all our drinks have a firm foundation in the classics, this time we decided to reach back and feature a Colonial era “shrub” with a nod to Bardstown, the renowned capital city of bourbon-making. Meyer lemons, commonly found at the Farmers Market, struck us as the perfect companion to the vinegar-based syrup typical in shrub cocktails. The natural sweetness of bourbon counterbalances the tartness of the lemon syrup, while adding a touch of soda to achieve the ideal balance in the drink

Suntory Barrel-Aged Manhattan $20

Toki whisky, house vermouth & chocolate bitters

Toki whiskey, celebrated by whiskey connoisseurs, is the star of this cocktail. The drink is inspired by the classic Manhattan, but enhanced with our own sweet vermouth and house-made chocolate bitters. It pays homage to the original cocktail recipe but has a depth of flavor all its own.

Marzapán Espresso Martini $19

aged rum, house amaretto, almond & espresso

This cocktail draws from the celebrated Mexican candy called “Mazapan,” made with peanuts and sugar, similar to marzipan, made with almonds and sugar. Using espresso, we update this coffee martini, adding aged rum and marzipan, giving this drink a frothy and creamy texture.
