The Cut’s “Breakout Brunch” Celebrates Women Defining Modern Television

Connie Britton, Aidy Bryant, Natasha Rothwell, and more hit pause on award season mayhem for skincare, cocktails, and celebration with The Cut and La Mer.

Connie Britton, Aidy Bryant, Natasha Rothwell, and more stepped into a serene yet star-studded oasis this week as The Cut partnered with La Mer to host the first ever “Breakout Brunch” at the West Hollywood EDITION. If there were an Emmy for Best Brunch, this one would have taken home the gold. While the city buzzed with fittings, press junkets, and red carpet rehearsals in anticipation of the 77th Emmy Awards, The Cut carved out a moment of calm, glamour, and connection that celebrated the women who are shaping the future of television in 2025.

The star-packed guest list included Connie Britton, Aidy Bryant, Natasha Rothwell, Jessica Williams, Justine Lupe, Tracy Ifeachor, Malin Akerman, Desi Lydic, and Sophia Bush, each of whom has left their mark across genres from groundbreaking comedy to prestige drama. Hosted by The Cut’s editor in chief Lindsay Peoples, the brunch embodied the publication’s signature voice, bold, stylish, and laser focused on women’s stories. Guests arrived to a lush, light soaked scene that blurred the line between editorial event and Hollywood social hotspot.

The EDITION, already known as a playground for nightlife insiders and A-list afterparties, was transformed into a brunch oasis layered with La Mer’s luxury skincare activations, fizzy St-Germain spritzes, and a curated menu that kept conversation buzzing as easily as the champagne. Attendees drifted through garden inspired lounge spaces where the air was filled with talk of upcoming projects, new roles, and the evolving television landscape, all while slipping La Mer’s cult favorite Crème de la Mer into their handbags. It felt more like a morning afterparty than a traditional brunch, with skincare, cocktails, and insider energy creating an atmosphere only Hollywood can produce.

More than a glamorous gathering, Breakout Brunch set the tone for a new awards season tradition. In an industry where the pressure of appearances can feel relentless, The Cut and La Mer created a pause button, offering a reset before the spotlight. The event carried the energy of a private members club party, but with a purposeful edge, spotlighting women not just as attendees but as the talent reshaping screens worldwide. It was equal parts indulgence and intention, a scene where networking met celebration and self care became as important as styling. For The Cut, the brunch underscored its role not only as a cultural publication but as a tastemaker driving the conversation around how women are celebrated in entertainment.

For La Mer, it was a masterclass in aligning luxury skincare with Hollywood’s most radiant faces, amplifying its reputation as the glow behind the glow. By the end of the afternoon, it was clear this was more than just an event, it was a cultural marker, the kind of insider experience that people will reference when they talk about how Emmy week truly begins. From curated cocktails to unforgettable conversations, Breakout Brunch proved that the most impactful moments of awards season often happen off the carpet and behind the scenes, where the energy is real and the community is authentic. In the eyes of every nightlife insider and Hollywood veteran present, this was the brunch where women not only broke through but redefined the industry, setting a new standard for how awards season celebrations should look and feel.
