An Inside Look On How Selena Gomez’s Celebrity Hairstylist Pulled Off Her Emmy’s Look

Telling you something you don’t know…

There isn’t a look that Selena Gomez cannot pull off. The Only Murders In The Building star appeared at the 75th annual Emmys in a form fitting red sequin Oscar de La Renta dress. The designer’s instagram reported Gomez’s look was a custom, hand-made piece that had over 450,000 burgundy paillettes and took 930 hours of hand-embroidery.

Gomez’s team accessorized the dress with black, strappy heels from René Caovilla, a necklace, rings and earrings from Tiffany & Co, as well as a bag from Tyler Ellis. Staying true to her drama show’s name, Hung Vanngo painted her face in a dark makeup look that could kill if she wanted it to.

Topping off her look, hairstylist Marissa Marino, who has worked with Gomez before for other special occasions including her birthday and other award shows gave her a sleek updo using items from Tangle Teezer. Loop Magazine received exclusive insight on how this look came together, and now you too can achieve this Emmys carpet glam hairstyle.

Prepping the Hair

Marino prepped Gomez’s hair by simply shampooing it and then spraying in a detangler. She brushed through the actress’s black locks using the Tangle Teezer Ultimate Detangler. The stylist prefers this hair tool for it has patented two-tiered teeth that creates a gentle detangling with less breakage and easily distributes treatment throughout the hair.

Creating the Base

After detangling the hair, Marino blow dried Gomez’s hair straight. Then she sectioned out her front bang and clipped it up. Afterwards, she grabbed her Tangle Teezer Ultimate Styler to brush the rest of the actress’s hair into a tight ponytail. The celebrity hairstylist says that this tool is her go to because the brush grips the hair creating a smooth finish without any frizz. This is the result of the styler’s unique bottle-shaped teeth that are specifically designed for dry-styling and finishing off looks.

Making the Wow Factor

With the ponytail secure, Marino took the hair and wrapped it into a tight bun which she then secured with bobby pins. Of course, she did not forget about the front bang. Sne unclipped it and curled it away from Gomez’s beautiful face to frame it. Finally, she used the Ultimate Styler to enhance the front piece and give it that award show shine.
