Chromeo Drops New Single 'Personal Effects' and Announces Album Amid Tour

The electro funk duo doesn’t stop…

Musical duo Chromeo is in the middle of their “Funk Yourself” tour, but that is not stopping them from working on their next musical project.

On Oct. 2, David “Dave 1” Macklovitch and Patrick “P-Thugg” Gemayel not only released a single entitled “Personal Effects,” but they also announced their new album Adult Contemporary which will be released Feb. 16, 2024.

According to Dave 1, “Personal Effects” was inspired by a flight attendant who commented “Please don’t forget your personal effects.” Regarding the album, the Chromeo half said  “Adult Contemporary is a meditation on modern, mature relationships, which means: If we gotta sing about curling irons, so be it.”

Along with the single, the duo released a music video for “Personal Effects.” Directed by Spencer Ford, the storyline follows the group having an argument with a girl who eventually hires two private investigators to spy on them. However, at the end of the video, the trio have made up and the investigators’ services are no longer needed.

“Personal Effects” follows the album Clusterfunk, which was made in collaboration with A-Trak and Ric Wilson. Adult Contemporary will have 15 tracks and will include features from La Roux.
