If you’ve ever scrolled through your For You Page and found yourself mesmerized by the perfect winged liner, a bold red lip, and a burst of real talk about acne and confidence, chances are you’ve seen Rashna Kutwaroo, the Mauritian-born, Canada-based beauty creator taking over the internet one makeup look at a time. With over two million followers hanging on her every recommendation and tutorial, Rashna is not just another beauty influencer. She’s a storyteller, a representation advocate, and a living reminder that authenticity always wins.
This year, she’s taking over Paris Fashion Week, a full-circle moment for the island girl who used to dream of glam under Mauritian sunsets. But Rashna’s story didn’t start on the VIP list of a L’Oréal Paris event; it started with humble beginnings, a fearless mother, and a deep belief that beauty is both inherited and created.
“I was born in Mauritius, moved out as a little girl, spent almost a decade in London, and now call Canada home,” she told LOOP Mag in an exclusive interview. “Each place has shaped how I see beauty, from the simplicity of island life to the diversity and confidence I found abroad. No matter where I go, I always bring a piece of my heritage with me, wearing a saree or something that represents my culture, because representation will always be my pride.”
That sense of identity is the secret ingredient in everything she does. On TikTok, you’ll find her blending the latest foundation drop while blending cultures, pairing a Western glam technique with a touch of South Asian beauty rituals. “Turmeric is truly your best friend,” she reveals. “I grew up watching my mom create natural beauty remedies, and turmeric was always at the heart of everything. To this day, I make my own face masks with turmeric and honey. It’s simple but powerful.”

Her fans call her the Winged Liner Queen, but Rashna’s reign wasn’t built overnight. “In my fantasy world, I was always the superstar, my own icon,” she says. “Coming from a single-parent family, I saw my mom’s strength and sacrifices, which made me work hard from a very young age.” Before content creation came calling, Rashna worked as an educator and spent six years in Children’s Services, where she learned patience and empathy, two traits that shine through in her approach to beauty. “But deep down, I knew I wasn’t fulfilled. When Covid hit, something clicked, and that’s when my journey in social media truly began.”
The switch from social work to social media may sound worlds apart, but Rashna treats both with the same level of care and connection. Her feed isn’t just about trends; it’s about truth. As someone who battled adult acne, she turned what could have been an insecurity into her signature movement of self-love. “I never had acne as a teenager, so when it started in my twenties, it completely changed how I saw myself,” she admits. “For years, I did everything possible to hide it because flawless skin was the beauty standard, and I didn’t fit into that box. After five years of fighting myself, I realized I had to stop. If I didn’t love me for me, who would? Accepting my acne was the moment I took my power back.”
In my fantasy world, I was always the superstar, my own icon.
That honesty, paired with flawless eyeliner, earned her not just millions of followers, but also the kind of influence that lands you an invite to Paris Fashion Week. Her most recent show-stopping look? A custom Mani Jassal lehenga for a L’Oréal Paris event that merged modern glamour with cultural symbolism. “It was actually a lehenga I wore. I always try to represent my roots, especially on global platforms,” Rashna says. “This time, I wanted something fun and modern but still meaningful. The look was a three-in-one piece that could be worn as a mini skirt with a blazer or transformed into a full lehenga, paired with a veil that read ‘In darkness there is light.’ With everything happening around the world, that message felt powerful and needed.”
If you think her social media feed is all parties and palettes, Rashna will be the first to tell you there’s a quiet, grounded side to her, too. “Off-camera, I’m extremely family-oriented,” she says. “I’ll always choose time with my loved ones over anything else. And though I may come across as confident online, I’m quite shy in real life. That’s something not many people would guess about me.”
But catch her on a dance floor, and the shyness disappears. “Oh, I’d definitely be front and center!” she says with a grin. “Coming from Mauritius, rhythm is in my genes. We grow up with sega music; it’s in our soul, it’s joyful, and it’s who we are. Dancing will always be a part of my culture and my heart.”
When asked about her dream afterparty, Rashna doesn’t hesitate. “Anywhere playing reggaeton, Latin beats, or good hip-hop is my dream afterparty. As long as the music’s right and the energy’s high, I’ll have the best time. It’s all about the vibe for me.”
And while her beauty philosophy may sound effortless, it’s also deeply intentional. She believes that confidence trumps any trend. “For me, comfort comes first,” she says. “Whether it’s heels or sneakers, I wear what makes me feel good in the moment. Confidence always shines brighter than the shoes you wear.”
Her makeup bag staples are equally telling, low-maintenance but high-impact. “A blotting powder with a puff, my go-to lip combo, and the perfume I’m wearing in travel size,” she lists. “My saje peppermint roller too, because I’m prone to headaches. Those are my non-negotiables. I like knowing I can touch up my glow, refresh my scent, and feel put-together no matter where the night takes me.”

TikTok, not Instagram, is where Rashna feels most at home. “TikTok will always feel like home to me,” she says. “It’s where I grew the fastest and built the strongest connection with my community. TikTok feels spontaneous; I can have an idea, hit record, and just be myself. Instagram is more curated and strategic, but TikTok is where my creativity flows freely. It’s truly where it all began for me.”
Her audience spans continents, but Rashna keeps her cultural roots close through food and tradition. “I stay connected to Mauritius through food, music, and festivals,” she says. “I celebrate all the festivals and often cook Mauritian dishes at home. My Punjabi husband is actually the biggest fan! Even when I’m miles away, sharing those flavors and moments keeps me grounded and reminds me exactly where I come from.”
When it comes to inspiration, Rashna’s community is her driving force. “I get messages every day from girls saying that what I’m doing gives them hope, especially those who look like me or come from places like Mauritius,” she says. “There aren’t many of us in this space, and I take pride in breaking those stereotypes. I come from a simple, single-parent family, and everything I have today was built through hard work and faith.”
Her advice to aspiring creators is classic Rashna, grounded, encouraging, and full of heart. “If I could do it, so can you. I’m a big believer that we get one chance at life, so give it everything you have and make it worth it. We truly only live once. It makes me so happy to see how influential my journey has been for others. Something that once felt impossible now feels within reach, and more of us are dreaming bigger every day.”
That dreamer’s energy is exactly what she channels when she steps into the Parisian spotlight. And if she could borrow from anyone’s closet for the occasion? “Kendall Jenner,” she laughs. “I’m in love with her style. There’s something about the way she carries herself, so effortlessly chic yet simple. I know if I raided her closet, I’d find something timeless, minimal, and still make it my own.”
Behind every highlighter glow and red carpet shot, Rashna’s real message shines brighter than any flashbulb: beauty isn’t perfection, it’s power. “To me, beauty means acceptance, embracing who you are and wearing it with pride,” she says. “Outer beauty fades, but the beauty within stays forever. People won’t remember how flawless you looked, but how you made them feel. Every day, I focus on becoming a better, kinder, more beautiful version of myself from within, because that’s the kind of beauty that truly lasts.”
From Mauritius to Canada to the streets of Paris, Rashna Kutwaroo is proving that dreams don’t have borders and neither does beauty. Whether she’s front row at Fashion Week or front and center on TikTok, she’s rewriting what it means to be seen, celebrated, and authentically yourself.
Because if Rashna’s story shows us anything, it’s this: glow is global, and the most radiant look you can wear is confidence.
