Lingerie as Costume: Turning any Costume Sexy

It’s time to figure out those costume looks!

The spooky season is literally upon us; I mean it’s mid-October already. Where did this year go anyway? Growing up in New Zealand, Halloween was not as big as it is here in US in terms of trick-or-treating and decorating your place. But we did do Halloween parties, and everyone loves a good excuse to dress up. Girls are lucky, we can even make our lingerie into costumes, which probably wouldn’t work quite as well for guys, but then again, maybe a zombie Calvin Klein model? There’s a lot of options in Los Angeles for your last-minute costume shopping. After all, LA is the center of movie magic and entertainment, so you are spoiled for choice! Here are a few of my favorites for your super sexy Halloween fit.

Trashy Lingerie

No list would be complete without mentioning the famous Trashy Lingerie, the original sexy lingerie store that even used to make costumes for the Playboy bunnies – this store oozes classic Hollywood. They have everything from simple sexy to the more extravagant costumes available. Mostly everything is hand-made, and you can also get custom-made designs just like their celebrity clientele. If you want to make an entrance at your Halloween event, then this is the place. There’s a $2 membership to shop in-store, but you can always do it online for free!

Hustler Hollywood

Maybe you have your outfit but still, need a few accessories? Then head on over to one of Hustler’s two locations in LA (West Hollywood and Hollywood). They have everything from wigs to heels – and it’s a pretty big selection too. They even have a Halloween Look-book if you need a little inspiration. While you’re there you can pick up a lil sumthin sumthin for the after-after party ;).

Rave Wonderland

The female-owned and operated Rave Wonderland is as the name suggests, the store for all your rave party needs. The shop itself is pretty much like being at a festival, and they have an amazing selection with so many accessories to add to any costume. You can also get some very instaworthy pics while you’re there. But if you’re not able to make an in-store visit, they also have online shopping available and a Halloween specific section too.

Spirit Halloween

Definitely a go-to for your more traditional Halloween costumes. I prefer online, but they do have storefronts too in East Hollywood, Hollywood, and Westwood Village. Spirit has you covered with the latest outfits and movie-inspired costumes, like the very on-trend Cruella or Harley Quinn. In fact, they have something for the whole family, so matching outfits with your better half is super easy, and if you have kids, no sweat you can get them matched up too!

Online

There are so many online options for costumes too. For instance, Yandy is an obvious choice for its endless picks of sexy costumes and accessories. Their outfits are fun, sassy, and even on-trend with their version of Kim K’s MET Gala tragedy. Other virtual shops you can hit up are Forplay Catalog, Dolls Kill and Amazon is great for those very last-minute 2-day Prime member buys, which you hope will get there on time before your big event. They got your Squid Game covered with a couple of options available too!

If you’re after a dedicated Halloween site, check out HalloweenCostumes, which is similar to Spirit with a lot of couple and group options. And for us ladies, they even have a filter so you can choose between full coverage or sexy depending on your plans for the night!

I would also hit up PrettyLittleThing’s costume section and Frederick’s of Hollywood for some super good deals – there are some costumes available for just $19! For more upscale lingerie pieces, I recommend Agent Provocateur or Kiki De Montparnasse and you can pair them with Halloween accessories from any of the places listed!
