Megan Thee Stallion Rumored to Have Left Global Citizen Festival for Beyoncé

Megan was a little savage for this

From hot girl summer to booking gigs, Megan Thee Stallion is a woman who knows she has options. Therefore, sometimes she makes difficult decisions, including pulling out of festivals if a better offer comes along.

The “Bongos” rapper was originally scheduled to headline the Global Citizen Festival, benefiting ending extreme poverty. However, Sept. 12, 11 days before the festival takes place, it was unceremoniously announced that Thee Stallion would not be gracing the Central Park stage through a simple tweet.

“Hi there — due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict, Megan Thee Stallion will no longer be available to perform at the 2023 Global Citizen Festival,” tweeted the festival.

Billboard reached out to the “Savage” rapper’s team, but no comment was given, and now we may know why. Sources have leaked that Megan Thee Stallion is going to be a surprise guest at the Houston shows of Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour, taking place Sept. 23 and 24 at NRG Stadium.

A source tells Page Six that it was “an inadvertent duplicate scheduling by her team.” Whether Beyoncé’s offer came before or after the “Body” artist booked Global Citizen, the reality is Megan and her team chose Queen Bey. If the rumors are true, the Houston crowd will be for a special treat with both artists performing in their home state.

Meanwhile, Global Citizen will now be headlined by The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Ms. Lauryn Hill and Jung Kook. Tickets are free and obtained by completing initiatives by Global Citizen to help end extreme poverty.
