My strategy there was to be as open and honest as I possibly could and hopefully find a connection.”

I’m always completely invested in achieving my goals, and I’m willing to do whatever it takes. I think that level of dedication is what differentiates me from other contestants.”

As with any public figure, Mercedes’s rise to fame has not been without its challenges. “Yeah, I understand that in the public eye, I’m sometimes perceived as a villain, and I’m okay with that,” he admitted. “People see clips online or watch a TV show and think they can judge my entire character based on that limited perspective. I’ve been in the public eye for three years now, across three different shows, so I’ve learned how to navigate it.”

Mercedes also recognizes the significant role editing plays in shaping public perception. “Editing can create a distorted view of reality, making someone appear as a ‘villain’ when they are not, or conversely, portraying them as a ‘hero’ when they are not. However, I believe that in most cases, the editing provides a reasonably accurate representation of the contestants’ true personalities and behaviors.”

Despite the “villain” label, Mercedes believes it has worked in his favor. “Honestly, I think being labeled a ‘villain’ has actually benefited me. People have strong reactions to those types of characters. Ultimately, I think any attention is good attention. If people are talking about me, whether it’s positive or negative, it means I’ve made an impact.”

From Reality TV to Entrepreneurship

Transitioning from reality TV star to lifestyle influencer and entrepreneur was not without its hurdles. “The most surprising aspect has been the influencer work. Many people assume being an online influencer is easy, but there’s a huge amount of behind-the-scenes work involved that I didn’t initially realize,” Mercedes revealed. “Transitioning into that world after being thrust into the public eye through reality TV was challenging at first. But at the end of the day, it’s my job now, and I signed up for it.”

His fashion sense has also become a cornerstone of his personal brand and a key driver of his partnerships. “I’d say I have a very versatile fashion sense, and I’m willing to experiment with styles most people wouldn’t try,” he said. “My goal is always to be the best-dressed person in the room. As Deion Sanders once said, ‘If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play well. If you play well, they pay well.’ I truly live by that.”
