Pass The Porn Star Martini: Celebrating With Passoã On The Sunset Strip

Passion in a glass.….
There is no cocktail having more of a moment right now than the Porn Star Martini.
The cheeky cocktail was created by bartender Douglas Ankrah in London in the early 2000s, using Passoã Passion Fruit Liqueur in his original recipe. Depending on who you ask, the drink was named after what it was thought a porn star would order; other stories say Ankrah was inspired by the smell of a stripper’s perfume. Either way, the combination of passionfruit and vanilla gives a delicious sweet and sour taste to this highly glamorous sipper, which is traditionally accompanied by a chilled shot glass of prosecco or champagne.
On Sept. 19, cocktail and entertaining expert Paul Zahn hosted an exclusive event at West Hollywood’s Bar Next Door, located on the iconic Sunset Strip, to celebrate the cocktail along with Passoã. Guests enjoyed some tasty bites from Prince Street Pizza along with Porn Star Martinis and other Sunset Boulevard-inspired variations of the drink using Passoã, created by Bar Next Door bar director Brynn Smith.

Porn Star Martini
- ¾ oz. Lime Juice
- 1 oz Passoä
- 1 ½ oz Vanilla Vodka
- ½ oz Passion Fruit Puree
Method: Shake up serve into a coupe with passionfruit half or quarter, flower and serve with a 2 oz side of champagne.
Sunset Margarita
- 1 oz. Lime Juice
- ¼ Agave Nectar
- ½ oz Passoã
- 2 oz Partida Blanco
- Tequila
Method: Serve in a rocks glass with ice and Tajin rim and flower.
Viper Room
- 1 Muddled Serrano Slice
- ½ oz Lemon Juice
- ½ oz Lime Juice
- ½ oz Honey Syrup
- 1 oz Pineapple Juice
- ½ oz Passoã
- 1 ½ oz Caravedo Torontel Pisco
- Top with 1 ½ oz Peroni Beer and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters on top of the crushed ice.
Method: Garnish with Pineapple fronds and flowers.
