Rodeo Revival at Level 8: DTLA’s Neon Cowboy Pre-Game for Festival Season

The Wild Wild West gets a neon upgrade as Rodeo Revival takes over Level 8 DTLA, with 818 Tequila fueling a pre-festival fever dream.

As festival season starts to settle in, Level 8 DTLA is already a few drinks ahead, moving like the pre-game before the main event. Its latest takeover, Rodeo Revival, a neon cowboy pop-up powered by 818 Tequila, leans all the way into that energy. If Coachella isn’t on your calendar this year (or patience isn’t your strong suit), this is where the city is staging its own desert-party prelude.

Rodeo Revival takes over Level 8‘s Brown Sheep rooftop with a neon washed Western mood that’s just the right amount of instinctive rather than kitschy, tapping into LA’s tendency of treating nearly every evening like a pre-game. Running Thursday through Sunday into early May, it lands perfectly in that inbetween stretch where no one’s technically in the desert yet, but the outfits, the energy, and the drinks almost say otherwise. The experience isn’t your average country-themed bar, but more like a soft launch into your desert alter ego, with 818 Tequila, of course, fueling the fun.

That pacing tracks with the people behind it. The Houston brothers, Mark Houston and Jonnie Houston, have a record of building nights people don’t stop talking about, and Rodeo Revival moves with that same rhythm. You start with the welcome pour of 818, but it doesn’t stay contained there. The DJ sets get louder, the rooftop fills in, and what starts as a drink turns into an evening that inevitably becomes a highlight of your week.

When you step onto the rooftop, it’s practically like you’re not even in LA anymore. There’s a shift into a neon-lit desert mirage, where downtown’s edges blur into something dusted, bright, and the perfect amount of country. From boots and vintage denim to mesh details layered with intention, punctuated by the occasional full rodeo reference worn without irony, the scene feels pulled from somewhere just beyond the horizon. Everyone looks like they’re either en route to Coachella Valley or holding onto the anticipation of Stagecoach just a little harder.

Tickets are available through Bucket Listers, making it an easy pre-festival outing or a destination in its own right.

Before the desert calls and the main stages, the lines, and the sun-drenched days take over, Rodeo Revival offers a version of the season already in motion. A little closer, a little louder, and just far enough from LA’s chaos to feel like you’ve already arrived somewhere worth staying.
