Music festivals are more popular than ever and a new study recently revealed which events reign supreme as the most Instagrammable festivals in the US. 

Sweepstake casino site Vegas Gems, looked at 35 of the country’s most popular festivals to find the number of times each festival has been tagged on Instagram in public posts. The total number of hashtagged posts was calculated by combining the commonly used names and the full name for each festival.

While number one is no shocker, there are a few music experiences on the list that might come as a surprise —and just may inspire you to check them out!

Festival season is in full swing in the US, and with more 800 different music festivals taking place across the country, many people will get the chance to see some of their favorite musicians this summer,” says Josh Lingenfelter, a spokesperson for Vegas Gems.

#10 Ultra Music Festival

Ultra Music Festival is the tenth most Instagrammable festival in the US, with a total of 224,820 hashtagged posts on Instagram

The annual outdoor electronic music festival, which takes place in March in Miami, Florida, was founded in 1999 by Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes. Since 2011, Ultra has taken place across three days during the month of March. The 2024 lineup included heavy hitters such as David Guetta, Tiesto, Calvin Harris, Afrojack, Black Tiger Sex Machine, Martin Garrix and more. Ultra Music Festival 2025 is scheduled for March 28-30.

#9 Electric Zoo

Electric Zoo is the ninth most Instagrammable festival in the US, with a total of 250,206 hashtagged posts on Instagram

The infamous electronic music festival typically held over Labor Day weekend in New York City on Randall’s Island. The festival represents all genres of electronic music, bringing top international DJs and live acts from multiple countries to four stages. In its 2009 inaugural year, 26,000 people attended to see artists Armin van Buuren, Deadmau5, David Guetta and Ferry Corsten before expanding to a 3-day festival with 85,000 attendees in 2011. Following a disastrous 2023 Electric Zoo festival plagued by supply chain issues and capacity limits, a pair of attendees launched a class action lawsuit against organizers over what they called “a nightmare endured by thousands of electronic music fans.”

There is no Electric Zoo scheduled for 2024 or 2025.

#8 Riot Fest

Riot Fest is the eighth most Instagrammable festival in the US, with a total of 321,289 hashtagged posts on Instagram

As one of the largest independently owned music festivals in the United States, Riot Fest is an annual Chicago-based three-day punk rock music event. It is known for booking reunions, guest performances, and full album performances. 

Moving to the suburbs, Riot Fest 2024 will take place at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois September 20-22 with legendary artists such as Fall Out Boy, Beck, Slayer, Pavement, NOFX, The Offspring, St. Vincent, Rob Zombie, Public Enemy, Bright Eyes, Sublime and more.

#7 Outside Lands

Outside Lands is the seventh most Instagrammable festival in the US, with a total of 327,290 hashtagged posts on Instagram

The three-day music, art, food, wine and cannabis festival is held annually in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Multi-genre and multi-generational, it is the largest independently owned music festival in the United States. Outside Lands 2024 took place August 9-11, featuring a killer lineup including Post Malone, The Killers, Tyler, Sabrina Carpenter, Sturgill SimpsonVictoria Monét, Jungle, Grace Jones, Chris Lake and more. Next year’s dates will be August 8-10, 2025.

#6 CMA Festival 

CMA Festival is the sixth most Instagrammable festival in the US, with a total of 377,581 hashtagged posts on Instagram

The four-day festival is centered on country music and is hosted each June by the Country Music Association in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The 2024 lineup included all star artists such as Brothers Osborne, Carly Pearce, Cody Johnson, HARDY, Jelly Roll, Jon Pardi, Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini, Lainey Wilson, Luke Bryan, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Old Dominion, Shaboozey, The War and Treaty, Thomas Rhett and more. 2025 dates will be June 5-8.

#5 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival

Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is the fifth most Instagrammable festival in the US, with a total of 573,240 hashtagged posts on Instagram

Held every year on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee since 2002, the four-day festival attracts around 80,000 people and features music, parades, art, and outdoor activities. The 2024 festival was held June 14-16 with headliners headliners like Pretty LightsFisherPost MaloneRed Hot Chili Peppers and Fred Again. Next year’s dates will be June 12-15 2025.

#4 Electric Forest Festival

Electric Forest Festival is the fourth most Instagrammable festival in the US, with 603,243 hashtagged posts on Instagram.

Where neon meets nature, Electric Forest takes place in June at a ranch in Rothbury, Michigan Electric Forest featuring four days of EDM, dance, techno, Hip-Hop, jam bands, prog metal, pop yoga and good times.

Approximately 120 groups performed at this year’s multi-genre extravaganza, including headliners Nelly Furtado, Pretty Lights, Everything Always featuring Dom Dolla and John Summit, Ludacris, and The String Cheese Incident. 2025 dates have not yet been officially announced.

#3 Electric Daisy Carnival

Electric Daisy Carnival is the third most Instagrammable festival in the US, with 1,254,372 hashtagged posts on Instagram.

Commonly known as EDC, the electronic dance music festival is organized by promoter and distributor Insomniac and held every May at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The event originated in Southern California but moved to Sin City in 2011. Today, EDC Las Vegas attracts around 500,000 people and takes the the crown as largest electronic dance music festival in North America. The epic event features electronic dance producers and DJs, and incorporates a variety of electronic music, including house, techno, drum and bass, and dubstep. In addition to the music, event goers experience three-dimensional superstructures, colorful glow-in-the-dark environments, and LED-lit flora and fauna. There are also interactive art installations throughout EDC, free-roaming carnival performers, and carnival rides.

Most recently, EDC 2024 welcomed Diplo, David Guetta, Kaskade, Alison Wonderland, Tiesto, FISHER, Alesso, Armin van Buuren, Dillon Francis, Carl Cox, Eric Prydz, John Summit, Valentino Khan, Seven Lions, Steve Aoki, Illenium, Paul van Dyk, Martin Garrix, DJ Snake, Zedd,  Four Tet, Peggy Gou, Sara Landry and more. EDC Las Vegas 2025 is set for May 14-16.

#2 Lollapalooza

Lollapalooza is the second most Instagrammable festival in the US, with 1,621,990 hashtagged posts on Instagram.

Created by Perry Farrell, singer of the group Jane’s Addiction, Lolla originally started as a touring event in 1991, before Chicago became its permanent location. Today, the legendary festival occurs every August over four days in the city’s Grant Park. Around 400,000 people attend the festival every year, which features a wide variety of music genres, including heavy metal, punk, rock, hip hop, and electronic dance.

The 2024 lineup included blink-182, SZA, the Killers, Tyler, the Creator, Hozier, Future X Metro Boomin, Stray Kids, Melanie Martine, Skrillex. Reneé Rapp, Kesha, the Deftones, Tate McRae, Cults Brandi Cyrus and more. 2025 dates have not yet been officially announced.

#1 Coachella

It’s not surprise Coachella was found to be the most Instagrammable festival in the US, with a total of 5,705,697 hashtagged posts on Instagram

Taking place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, Coachella attracts more than 650,000 people across the two weekends in April every year and is the biggest festival in the country.  The 2024 event featured headliners Lana Del Rey, Tyler, the Creator, and Doja Cat with other big ticket artist like Peso Pluma, Lil Uzi Vert, Sabrina Carpenter, Bebe Rexha, J Balvin, Ice Spice, Dom Dolla, Blur, Sublime, YG Marley, and more. No Doubt also performed as a reunion, the first time they played together since 2015.

“With Coachella attracting more 650,000 visitors each year, and featuring and some of the top musicians and celebrity faces, it is no surprise that it is the largest and most talked about festival in the US, if not the world,” says Lingenfelter. “This popularity is reflected in the number of hashtagged posts on Instagram showcasing Coachella fashion and some of the festival‘s most talked-about moments.”  

Coachella 2025 will take place April 11-13 and April 18-20. The lineup has not yet been revealed, however passes are on sale now.
