Can You Dig It?: A Hip Hop Orgin Story With Chuck D

In conjunction with the Grammy Museum’s new exhibit, Hip-Hop America: The Mixtape Exhibit, the Grammy Museum is thrilled to host a special panel discussion featuring the Executive Producers and Creators of Audible Original docuseries Can You Dig It?: A Hip-Hop Origin Story, Chuck D, Lorrie Boula, Pete Chelala, Bryan Master and Julian Voloj. 

As a prequel to DJ Kool Herc’s origin story, Can You Dig It? is an immersive audio-tale of how 1970’s Bronx transitioned from outlaw culture to Hip-Hop culture, with the catalyst being the brutal murder of a gang member-turned-peacemaker.  

This panel with include audio clips from the docuseries, expert discussion of its inspirations, the production and their thesis: no peace, no Hip-Hop.

Tanteo Tequila Tasting

Women Who Whiskey Los Angeles is hosting a Tanteo Tequila Tasting with Cocktails event led by brand ambassador Melanie Drinkwater this Wednesday at Harlowe in West Hollywood. 

Melanie will taste guests through this line of ultra-premium, award-winning, additive-free, 100% agave spicy tequilas, which were infused with locally sourced and processed peppers at a woman-centric distillery to make the perfect Spicy and Classic Margaritas.

Guests will taste each of the following expressions straight and in cocktail form:

  • Tanteo Blanco: Double Platinum Award; 2023 White Spirit of the Year; and Best Tequila – 2023 ASCOT Awards
  • Tanteo Jalapeño (spicy): Gold – 2023 ASCOT Awards
  • Tanteo Chipotle (smoky)
  • Tanteo Habanero (extra spicy)

Guests will sample each tequila infusion straight and then compare in cocktail form.

Armin Van Buuren at Exchange LA

This Thursday, get lost in a trance as Armin Van Buuren will play Exchange LA, the huge four-level nightclub in the former LA Stock Exchange building. The legendary Dutch DJ and record producer first burst on to the trance music scene in the mid 90s and remains one of the biggest names in the game.

The Los Angeles Auto Show

The LA Auto Show cruises into the Los Angeles Convention Center this weekend. Open to the public for 10 days, it is a 116-year celebration of automotive excellence and a hub for discovering the latest trends and innovations in the industry. This year, the event will be showcasing numerous international and domestic automakers, indoor and outdoor test drives, rides, and thrill rides, all within an expansive one million square feet of exhibition space. 

Be sure to check out the Hollywood car showcase featuring vehicles from the personal collections of celebs like Kevin Hart, memorable cars from the Fast & Furious franchise and more.

SPLASH (Glow In The Dark Rave)

Framed Events and Underwar3 are collaborating to bring you SPLASH! This wild event will include a two full production stages, GoGo dancers, vendors, and glow in the dark UV lights. Wear glow in the dark, or white! There will even be UV Painters on site to help get you styled right. The warehouse is located in DTLA in the 90031 zip code area.
