4 New LA Bars to Know Before Anyone Else

LA’s latest openings are giving us new reasons to go out. From a phone-booth speakeasy to a cocktail bar that transports you to Mexico, your next night out starts at these 4 new spots.

If there’s one thing about LA, there’s always somewhere new to be. I’m always keeping tabs on the latest spots worth adding to the rotation and this season, LA’s got a new speakeasy in West Hollywood, a cocktail bar in the valley with a teleportation story straight out of Mexico, an Italian wine bar on the Westside, and the return of a local favorite in Century City. Whether you’re looking for your next go-to spot or somewhere to make a whole night out of, these are the newest openings to have on your radar. Now the only question is, which one are you trying first?

West Hollywood

Ten Cash Bar

If you’re a sucker for a speakeasy moment, then Ten Cash Bar is about to have all of your attention. Hidden behind a cherry-red phone booth on Santa Monica Boulevard, this new WeHo speakeasy takes inspiration from 1990s New York, when knowing your bartender and striking up a conversation with the person next to you were the highlight of your night. That’s the feeling owner and actor Vinny Laresca wanted to bring back with Ten Cash, by creating a space that serves as a reminder that the connections you make are the real currency. Getting inside is just part of the fun: call from the phone booth to receive the code for entry. Once you’re in, expect a mysteriously-chic vibe paired with tasty cocktails and the kind of atmosphere that might just leave you with a few new friends by last call.

Sherman Oaks

Gilbert Pérez Bar

What if your next cocktail reservation came with a one-way ticket transporting you to Mexico? Located on the second floor above Daisy Margarita Bar in Sherman Oaks, Gilbert Pérez Bar comes from the team behind Daisy and Mirate with a concept rooted in the folklore of Gilbert Pérez, a Spanish soldier whose mysterious teleportation from the Philippines to Mexico City in the 16th century inspired the bar’s entire identity. Here, Mexican rum and tropical cocktails are part of a more immersive experience, with the space drawing from different regions of Mexico and a no-photos policy adding to the mystery. Even reservations play into the story, with the bar inviting guests to “book a portal to Mexico.” It’s a cocktail experience with a backstory unlike your usual night out.

Santa Monica

Bar Fortuna

For the nights when you’d rather linger over a good glass of wine than shout over a DJ, Bar Fortuna brings an all-day wine bar concept to Santa Monica’s Main Street. Inspired by the historic Italian bars chef and owner Brian Bornemann discovered while living in Italy and learning to make pasta, this California-Italian spot graces LA with a little European drinking culture. The wine list spans local favorites to rare Italian bottles, alongside specialty cocktails, multiple takes on the Negroni and more than 30 amari for those who like to venture beyond their usual order. Handmade pastas and seasonal dishes make it just as tempting to stay for dinner, complimenting a wine bar that’s perfect for everything from a casual afternoon pour to a full evening out on the Westside.

Century City

Birdie G’s

An LA favorite is getting a new address, and for anyone who was still mourning the original Birdie G’s in Santa Monica, consider this very good news. Chef and owner Jeremy Fox is bringing the beloved restaurant into its next chapter inside the Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City, pairing its signature ‘comfort and cocktails’ with a retro, ’70s-inspired space. Birdie G’s has always had a personality of its own, balancing nostalgic American cooking with a colorful, quirky point of view. Fox is now bringing that same spirit to a new neighborhood, with breakfast and an espresso bar giving you another reason to stop by beyond dinner and drinks. Whether you’re a longtime fan or finally seeing what the fuss is about, Birdie G’s is one to add to your Century City rotation.

Whether you’re in the mood to uncover a speakeasy, book a portal to Mexico, linger over a glass of Italian wine or make a comeback reservation at an LA favorite, these new spots are giving us plenty of reasons to switch up the usual plans.

If there’s one thing about dining in LA, there’s always a new place to discover and another spot to add to your going-out rotation. Now that one question still remains: which place are you trying first?
