When Gold Sky Productions and Santa Monica Proper Hotel joined forces, the result was a weekend combining nightlife, music, and community with sets from Washed Out and DJ Windows 2000.
For two back-to-back nights, Santa Monica Proper Hotel was a buzzing epicenter of LA’s sound and style. Produced in collaboration with Gold Sky Productions, the events, Washed Out (DJ Set) on Oct 24, and DJ Windows 2000 (Win Butler of Arcade Fire) on Oct 25, were the latest of Proper Presents, a multi-sensory event series. The result? A weekend that captured Proper’s spirit of connecting the community through music, movement, food, and conversation.
Gold Sky Productions has become known for experiences that don’t just entertain, but immerse with events mirroring the city’s cultural pulse. With its curated approach to nightlife, the production house has brought its signature touch to Proper Hotel.
On Friday, Washed Out filled the air with his chillwave grooves, perfectly matched to Santa Monica’s soft evening glow. The following day, DJ Windows 2000 (Win Butler of Arcade Fire) transformed the space with a high-energy, genre-spanning set with a mix of disco, indie, and house that kept the crowd moving late into the night. For locals, culture-seekers and hospitality insiders, the weekend hummed with a collective rhythm that only happens when the right crowd collides with the right setting.
Blending rooftop DJ sets, wellness rituals, chef-driven tastings, and intriguing panels, each Proper Presents event reflects the hotel’s spirit and the city’s cultural heartbeat. For Gold Sky Productions, these events showed their growing impact on LA’s event landscape. Whether through intimate hotel showcases or large-scale collaborations, the company continues to curate moments that combine music and community.
Between the curated crowd, design-forward setting, and Gold Sky’s golden touch, Santa Monica’s weekend soundtrack struck all the right notes, and hinted at more to come from this collaborative series. As the last track faded into the ocean’s breeze, the energy lingered.
With more events in the works, the collaboration between Gold Sky and Proper continues to redefine how LA listens and connects, even long after the music stops.
