Inside Santa Monica's New Mediterranean-Inspired Hotspot Mon Ami

The Med meets the westside….

Mon Ami, an elevated Mediterranean fusion restaurant and lounge concept, has officially opened its doors in downtown Santa Monica. The new hotspot hails from Pacific Coast Hospitality (PCH Group), the team behind Canary, the buzzy Santa Monica nightclub inspired by the Canary Islands, as well as several restaurants located across Europe.

Positioned deep inside the courtyard off of Ocean Avenue (the former 41 Ocean lounge space), Mon Ami—which translates to “my friend” in French—focuses on “the enchanting Mediterranean experience of the night in a warm and comfortable soul.”

“We are thrilled to introduce and share the vibrant culture of “Mon Ami,” says Nas Negahban of PCH Group. “We have worked extensively to perfect a unique experience for our newest venture into the restaurant space.  If you go anywhere else in the world, including other cities in the US, the epicenter for the best restaurants and nightlife are by the ocean. PCH Group’s focus now and for the immediate future is to make Santa Monica exactly that here in Los Angeles.”

John Sofio of Built Inc. is the visionary behind the Mon Ami space, aiming to embrace the majestic escape of the Mediterranean experience. The award-winning architect designer transports the intimate space with smooth stucco walls painted in warm two-tones of sage green and neutral cream whites, cedar and warm mahogany woodwork, lush Mediterranean inspired landscaping and elegant furnishings. Sofio—who also designed hotspot such as The Nice Guy, Delilah and The Peppermint Clubflawlessly styles both interior and exterior with scaled proportionally flanked vignettes with modern fabrics that capture the feeling of high style while the rooms are further adorned in sheer soft curtains and warm glowing lights.

“Along with John Sofio’s design, we are excited to bring a true Mediterranean ambiance and experience to Los Angeles,” adds Negahban. “Our goal for Mon Ami is to have everyone feel like they’ve escaped to a place off the coast of the sea with its aesthetics, music, cocktails and memorable menu.”
