The first step to New Year’s resolution and goals is believing in the true possibility of them coming true, and music can help greatly with that.

“Just Like Magic” by Ariana Grande (2020)
Ariana Grande could not spell out the magic of manifestation and claiming more than she does in “Just Like Magic.” The song comes from her 2020 Positions album where the pop singer alludes to the law of attraction and keeping her conscience clear in order to attract success and achieve her goals. The lyrics were written by Grande and song writing partner Priscilla Renea, and it debuted at number 44 on the Billboard Hot 100. While the song never became one of Grande’s most popular hits, its lyrics have held a lot of impact for not only her fans but also people who highly believe in the power of manifestation.

“Unstoppable” by Sia (2016)
“Unstoppable” by Sia is a representation in itself of manifesting and never giving up on one’s goals. Not only are the lyrics about being strong and powerful, but the track itself has had quite a journey. Originally released in 2016 on Sia’s studio album This Is Acting, “Unstoppable” had some early commercial success being featured in Gillette’s 2016 ad campaign.
However, the song did not gain peak popularity until the 2020s after being featured in TikToks and other commercials. It was not officially ranked as a contemporary radio hit until July 2022 and is labeled as what many call a “sleeper hit,” meaning it did not gain traction until years after its release. Therefore, let this song mentally and physically be a reminder to never give up on your dreams.

This song is almost entirely made out of manifestation statements itself. The artist Emmy Meli went viral on TikTok after putting some statements she says to herself in song form and users on the app demanded a full length version. Meli said she wrote the song to empower herself and other women, and it’s amazing to see so many resonate with it. Let this song be a reminder of your power and that you are also not alone in your journey.

“successful” by Ariana Grande (2018)
On Grande’s Sweetner album is another powerful manifestation song, “successful.” This Ariana Grande song talks about being young and successful and the joys that come with it, while also encouraging others to pursue their own dreams. The song went viral on TikTok back in 2020 and even has vocal backing by Pharrell Williams.

Another TikTok hit is “Lucky Girl,” written by the creator Carlina. She said in a video that the lyrics are made up of the manifestations she says to herself, and the song blowing up/going viral is a testament to the power of those words. Users now commonly use the sound to showcase their most recent accomplishments or goals they have met.

This iconic song is the title track of Alicia Keys’ fifth studio album, which was the first project she released under RCA records. It peaked at number two behind Rihanna’s “Diamonds” on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart, and number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Its lyrics talk about shining bright, even though one might be lonely or going through some struggles. It has multiple messages that things might not always be how they seem and being bright through tough times, making it the perfect song for manifestation.

“Lose Yourself” by Eminem (2002)
One of his most famous songs, “Lose Yourself” comes from the soundtrack for the movie 8 Mile. Produced, composed by and written by Eminem, the aggressive song talks about how his movie’s character B-Rabbit has to work hard and prove himself to other rappers. The song also encourages listeners to go after their dreams because they only have one shot.
The song has great commercial success, becoming the rapper’s first number one spot track on the Billboard Hot 100, and it remained there for 12 weeks. It also had international success, being a top track in 19 other countries and today is regarded as one of the best hip-hop songs of all time. The energy alone is sure to get one ready for 2024.

There is more than one track from Beyoncé’s Renaissance album that could go on this list, but we’ve chosen “ALIEN SUPERSTAR.” The song is meant to have a futuristic feel, making it perfect for when thinking about the future. Pitchfork regards the song as a “new-gen ballroom staple.” Upon its release, it debuted at number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 8 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart.

“Miracles Happen” by Myra (2001)
Look at the song’s title and read it again. 23 years later, Myra’s quote is the motto going into 2024. This song is most well known for being in the 2001 movie, The Princess Diaries starring Anne Hathaway. Not all of us are lucky enough to be Genova royalty, but we can still use this song to believe in our wildest dreams.

Finishing out this list is Lizzo’s, “Special.” The title track and third single of her fourth studio album, it’s all about reminding you that you are still special no matter what you are going through. It’s part of the highest charting female album of 2022, and was nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammys. The song itself has a 2023 remix with SZA.
“Special” and its album are regarded as a celebration of self-love and gratitude, both key aspects of manifestation, making it a perfect song to round out our New Year music recommendations.
