Recreate Sofia Carson's Sleek Faux Bob Hairstyle from the 2023 VMAs

Sleek, chic and totally Sofia.
Sofia Carson was one of the many famous faces who walked the red carpet at the 2023 MTV VMAs, held at New Jersey’s famed Prudential Center on Sept. 12. The Descendants star stood out in a cobalt blue Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2022 Haute Couture sequin-embroidered dress, which was teamed with a matching shoulder-padded cape and pointed-toe boots.
For glam, she worked a nude lip and dramatic smokey eye and a standout sleek faux bob hairstyle. The modern rock ‘n’ roll ‘do was created by celebrity stylist Caile Noble using Dove Hair product.
“Modern rock and roll was today’s inspiration for Sofia’s look,” Caile tells Loop Magazine. “I styled a faux bob to channel the modern with clean lines, while the makeup and dress brought the rock and roll flair.”

Step 1
First, Sofia’s hair was washed with Dove Intensive Repair Shampoo & Conditioner. Step 2
Next, I prepped the hair by adding a few pumps of the Dove Brilliant Gloss & Repair Serum to my hands and applied it roots to ends. This is a perfect addition to seal the hair and ends to boost its natural shine.

Step 3
I established a side part and blow dried the hair; followed by using the flat iron from roots to ends and taking one-inch sections. I like to curl the ends of the hair with the iron – this helps roll up the strands neatly.
Step 4
From there, I pulled the hair back into a low pony and secured it with an elastic band. Then, I rolled the hair up into place; creating the faux bob and using large bobby pins to tightly secure.
Step 5
To finish off with smoothness, I used Dove Style+Care Flexible Hold Hairspray. It keeps it in place, while allowing the hair to look like a natural bob having a soft look. It’s also a plus that it fights frizz – a must during humid days in New York City like today.
