The Chic Downtown New York Hotel I Can’t Stop Recommending: Inside The Conrad Downtown

Discover a luxurious fashion week headquarters and romantic getaway, complete with stunning Hudson River views, chic design, and amazing dining options.

It’s a rare occasion when I check into a hotel in New York City. Don’t get me wrong, most of my work days are spent posted up from some stylish New York City hotel lobby with a cup of tea in one hand and my laptop in the other, but this February, I needed a Manhattan hotel to be my fashion week home, and this season fashion week happened to land on Valentine’s Day weekend. I was on the hunt for the perfect NYC hotel to fit both of my needs, a romantic downtown staycation and a fashion-week headquarters all wrapped in one. I landed on the iconic Conrad New York Downtown, and have to say I haven’t been able to shut up about it since. Whether you’re looking for a place to recommend to tourists, you’re planning a trip to New York, or you yourself are a New Yorker looking for a Tribeca getaway, I have a feeling you’re going to love this property as much as I do. Keep scrolling to step inside my three-night stay at the Tribeca hotel.

When you look up “artsy, modern hotel” in the dictionary, a photo of The Conrad New York Downtown appears. The lobby is quite grand, with extremely high ceilings and art installations cascading down from the ceiling. The couches in the lobby are round, adding to the modern feel of the space. It’s the kind of place that feels stylish and cool, not to mention the staff was beyond lovely. This was my first time checking into a Conrad location, and I have to say I was impressed.

The room we had was a deluxe suite king room, which was perfect for the hybrid work / play staycation I was checking in for. When you walk in, there is a spacious living room set up with a sofa and plush chair, and a wall separator, making the room an optional make-shift office. I ended up having to film some content for a brand deal I had to shoot during fashion week, so the extra space ended up being a major plus for me. Once you walk further into the room, you pass a drink station set up with a Nespresso machine, a wet bar, and a water filtration system

leading back to a massive king-size bed. Our room had a view of the Hudson River, which I thought was a nice touch, but my favorite part of the room was by far the massive rainfall shower that I am still thinking about to this day. Plus, they use Byredo shower products, which is always a major plus.

Located in the heart of Tribeca, staying at the Conrad New York Downtown feels like you’ve just stepped foot in an episode of Ryan Murphy’s “Love Story” with classic Tribeca dining staples like The Odeon and Bubby’s in walking distance. This location was perfect for my stay. It happened to be fashion week and Valentine’s Day all in the same weekend. Being in downtown made it easy for me to run from the Kate Barton presentation at 6:00 to my 8:00 pm Valentine’s Day reservation. Not to mention, there is a movie theatre literally on the property, making my last date night of the weekend as convenient as possible. Plus, you’re right by the World Trade Center and can see the Statue of Liberty from the view on the property’s rooftop bar, Leonessa. Making this hotel the perfect location for visitors or New Yorkers in the mood for a little tourist cosplay.

The Conrad New York Downtown has two restaurants: Leonessa, the Italian rooftop bar with some of the city’s best downtown views, and the American-style wine bar and restaurant ATRIO, located in the hotel’s lobby. On my first night at the Conrad, my boyfriend and I stopped into Atrio for an espresso martini before heading out, and saw tons of chic New Yorkers sitting for date nights or tables of women clinking wine glasses toasting to their girls’ night. Had it been warmer, we would’ve headed up to Leonessa, which is one of my favorite rooftop bars in Tribeca. When designing Leonessa, it’s clear that the italian apertivo culture was at the forefront. The beautifully decorated interiors and stunning views separate this rooftop from its competitors, not to mention that the cocktails are excellent.
