Every night in March is ladies night…
Every year, March is designated as Women’s History Month. The annual observance in the US celebrates women’s contributions to history, culture, society and more.
Women’s History Month began as a local celebration in Santa Rosa, Calif.. The Education Task Force of the Sonoma County Commission on the Status of Women planned and executed a “Women’s History Week” celebration in 1978, corresponding with International Women’s Day on March 8. The movement quickly spread across the country as other communities initiated their own Women’s History Week. In February 1980, President Jimmy Carter issued the first Presidential Proclamation declaring the Week of March 8 as National Women’s History Week before Congres eventually passed additional resolutions authorizing the President to proclaim March of each year as Women’s History Month.
Today, the month is celebrated with cultural events, a focus on supporting women owned-businesses, charity concerts and more.
Want to raise a toast this Women’s History Month? During the month of March, mix up some crafted cocktails that pay homage to the trailblazing women who have shaped history.
